Officers from the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to the 4500 block of Grebe Place in Waldorf, where there was a reported robbery involving a group of minors and a pizza delivery driver who was victimized, officials announced on Wednesday, July 20.
The alleged incident happened shortly after 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, according to investigators.
It is alleged that the occupants exited the house the driver was directed to and indicated they did not place an order, according to the sheriff. As the driver was getting back into his car, he was approached by a group of juveniles who offered to buy the food and asked if the driver had any change.
The suspects then slapped the pizza boxes out of the driver’s hands, stole his wallet, and fled, officials said. The driver pursued the suspects, but one of them pulled out a gun, and pointed it at him before the group assaulted the driver, punching him and fleeing the area.
Officials said the driver was transported to an area hospital, treated for his injuries, and was later released.
The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the assault has been asked to contact Det. R. Smith at the Charles County Sheriff’s Office by calling (301) 609-3504 or Charles County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
